तुम्हारी मीठी ज़ुबान की कद्र है हमको
लेकिन तुम कुछ कहते लड़खड़ा रहे हो
हमें लगा तुम कह तो कुछ और रहे हो
लेकिन कहना कुछ और चाह रहे हो
हमें भी तो इल्म है तुम्हारी मंशा का
जिसे साफगोई से कह न सके थे तुम
वही नए नए बहाने से जतला रहे हो
तुममें इतनी क्या कमी है तहज़ीब की
जो आसान बात इशारों में समझा रहे हो
I value the sweetness of your voice
But you are fumbling with the words
I thought you are saying something
But trying to say something different
I'm aware of your intentions though
What you could not say with transparently
The same thing you say under new pretexts
How could you be deficient of being civil
That you try to say things by throwing hints!
