निशाँ-ए-ज़िन्दगी

ज़िन्दगी दिन-ब-दिन बस गुज़र सी गई
जेहन में चन्द सवाल अब भी बाक़ी से हैं

है रहा भी कुछ अपने पास देने को कोई
शिक़ायत सभी की अब भी बाक़ी सी हैं

ज्यों भी गुज़री यहाँ अपनी गुज़र ही गई
क्या करें चन्द साँस अब भी बाक़ी सी हैं

गिन के रुसवाईयाँ यहाँ उम्र कटती गई
दिन तो गुज़रे निशाँ अब भी बाक़ी से हैं

मौत से दोस्ती की अब तो ये रुत आ गई
निशाँ-ए-ज़िन्दगी कुछ अब भी बाक़ी से हैं

ज़िन्दगी को पहचानिए

ज़िन्दगी को जियो ज़िन्दगी की तरह
क्या हक़ीक़त यहाँ उसको पहचानिए
हर लम्हा हर घड़ी ज़िन्दगी है इधर
चार दिन की समझ न भरम कीजिये
अपने अपने हिस्से की किस्मत तो है
साझा किस्मत पे थोड़ा अमल कीजिये
बाँट के कुछ ख़ुशी औरों के साथ भी
उनके हिस्से के थोड़े से गम पीजिये
हर तरफ़ है तो बिखरी मोहब्बत यहाँ
अपने हिस्से में क्या उसको पहचानिए
हुस्न की चाशनी में जब परोसा न हो
इश्क़ ज़ज्बात इसका इलम कीजिये
फ़ूल मिलते ही काँटों की हैं गोद में
दोस्ती काँटों से ज़रा कर के देखिये
बोझ सी जब सताने लगे ज़िन्दगी
ख़ुद भी अपने पे रहमो करम कीजिये

तीज

ये तीज क्या आया
श्रीमान वी आइ पी हो गए
हमने रखे सावन के व्रत
वो फूल के कुप्पा हो गए
क्यों न होते भला
पहले सिर्फ पति थे
अब प्राणनाथ हो गए
हम करते रहे दुआएं
उनकी सलामती की
वो थे कि अब दिन में भी
शराबी हो गए
जानते हैं सावन है
हमने उन्हीं के लिए
ये उपवास भी रखा है
लगाम अब ढीली कर दी है
तो बस बेलगाम हो गए
जाने हम भी कब समझेंगे
ये आग मर्दों की लगाई है
हमने जान बुझकर यूँ बस
रीत अब भी निभाई है
इसी ने इनकी हिम्मत
और ज्यादा बढ़ा दी है
संस्कृति के नाम पर
ऐसी सीख दे दी है
ज़रा सा झूले का लालच देकर
हमारी आज़ादी छीन ली है
अब हम तक़ाज़ा करते हैं
हमरी सलामती की दुआ को
इन पर कौन सी रोक लगी है!

Those Managing Thoughts Manage Life well

Much of the success in managing our lives and its various facets depends on how well or badly we managed your thoughts. It's true that we do have the psychological development right from the day we are fetus form; and genetic factors too work on influencing our general persona. However, the thought process is our own to much extent and by doing right interventions we can manage it.

To me, thoughts and attitude make up your aptitude towards the profession, skills, orientation and general interests and behavior in life. In a way what you perceive is governed by your thoughts at the back-end.The evolving of thoughts has many external and internal influences upon. Some of these influential factors are known and some happen without our knowledge.

Our 'metal strength' and 'mental toughness'can be used to overcome the negative thoughts and intervention towards enhancing the positive thoughts is possible. You don't have to believe that everything you perceive is right!At times the evidences or facts are also skewed references to our beliefs. The time, context, and linkage of facts has to be recognized and we must stay away from making subjective and sweeping generalizations.Everything has an 'other side' to it in this World; and opinions are not important when you develop the habit of developing your thoughts!

As we think such becomes our power to perceive things and understand them. This is where working on objective or neutrality of thoughts and understanding comes up. Our preconceived notions, bias and prejudices shall of course remain; yet we have to have open mind and positive thoughts to overcome them all. You don't have to make extra efforts or rigorous preparations to do this; you just have to make yourself believe that what you perceive and the apparent facts you got may be different than the reality.

We have every right to think that we are the best; but with an understanding that so has anyone else. There are negative people, events, factors and situations; but the test of your personality and thoughts is there! If by being positive about all those it helps us and/or others we should be prepared to tell out thoughts that 'yes, it's true; but I would rather be positive about it and be happy to do that'. You may have questions but do questions die down ever? Questions always remain; our thoughts should be mature enough to deal with them to our mental and psychological satisfaction.

There is a famous saying in India that is based on the quote from Swett Marden, "मन के हारे हार है मन के जीते जीत" that means, 'If mind loses we lose; if mind wins we win'! Swett said, 'There are so many people in this World who can't reach the top of the progress merely because they don't have belief in themselves'! Having belief and conviction is very important to manage your thoughts in the right direction. Negative influences on thoughts and problems will come up; it's only normal; you have options to resolve them, deal with them or ignore them.

Life is like a battle and in the battlefields you have to fight with evil or even good at times; ultimately to get the best out of the battle. So is in the process of managing your thoughts. manage your thought and win the battles of life on your own strength! Amen!

ज़िन्दगी में बेवज़ह पहला पत्थर मारने वाला मुझे
सिखा गया कि इस दुनियाँ में ज़ालिम भी भरे पड़े हैं
उसे मालूम नहीं था वह अहसान कर गया मुझ पर
सिखाकर हरेक को ख़ुद छोटे-छोटे जंग लड़ने पड़े हैं
The person who pelted stone at me without a reason

ख़ूबसूरत उन आँखों को कहूँ या पूरे रुख्सार को

या अनछुआ अनदेखा सा शायद ख़्वाब है कोई
Do I call those eyes beautiful or the whole face
It's the same thing or can I say moonlight it is
But how to say in reality there exists any trace

ख़ुशहाली / Happiness

तलाश न हो जिसे ख़ुशहाल ज़िन्दगी की
ऐसा तो कोई शख्स अभी तक देखा नहीं
क्या होती है ये ख़ुशहाली यहाँ दरअसल
इसका कोई पैमाना अब तक बना नहीं
The ones who aren't looking for happiness in life
I haven't yet seen around many persons like that
In the reality what's that called happiness in life
Haven't found any scale which can measure that

विशिष्ट उपलब्धि

हमें प्रायः विशिष्ट उपलब्धियों की चाह रहती है। लेकिन विशिष्ट उपलब्धि के साथ यह समस्या है कि ये कभी कभी होती हैं और हर बार तो कभी भी नहीं। आपने अपना कार्य और कर्तव्य तो यथासंभव बख़ूबी निभाया किन्तु वांछित स्टार का परिणाम न मिलने पर आपको निराश या हताशा भी हुई।

यहाँ समझने और सोचने की बात यह है कि आप जितना कर सकते थे आपने यथ्शक्ति प्रयास भी किये और अच्छे परिणाम भी मिले। सोचने और होने के बीच का फ़र्क़ आप नहीं समझ पाए। परिणामतः आपके अनावश्यक रूप से स्वयं की उपलब्धि पर ग्लानी हुई और यह सोच बनी की यदि ऐसा या वैसा किया होता तो शायद अपेक्षित परिणाम मिल ही जाता।

अब आपने यहाँ तक तो सोच ही लिया किन्तु ये नहीं सोच पाए कि ऐसा या वैसा वर्तमान व भविष्य के विषय हैं भूतकाल के नहीं। भूत में तो जो हुआ वही सत्य है; इसमें कयास नहीं लगाये जा सकते हैं। भूतकाल के परिप्रेक्ष्य में किन्तु, शायद, यदि, परन्तु आदि प्रश्नों और विवेचना का कोई स्थान नहीं होता। जो चीज़ बदलना सम्भव नहीं है उस पर विचार कर अपने मन में हीन भावना ले आना बेमानी है।

विवेक का प्रयोग कर विशिष्ट का प्रयास तो अवश्य करें किन्तु परिणाम आशामुखी न भी हो तो इसमें कोई बुराई नहीं। अपने स्तर पर यथासम्भव प्रयास भी करे; किन्तु सोचने और होने की प्रक्रिया को पहचानें। जो उपलब्धियां हुईं वो भी नहीं या कम हो सकती थीं? यदि हाँ तो संतोष रखें और नए प्रयास और उत्साह के साथ सुधार के प्रयास करें। व्यर्थ चिंता के विचार और स्वयं पर अविश्वास आपमें नकारात्मक सोच ल सकते हैं। इससे बचें और यथार्थ की समझ बढ़ायें।

आपके प्रयास, जीवट और उपलब्धियों के मार्ग में कई बाधाएँ या अवरोध भी होते हैं; जिनका आकलन या अनुमान लगाना हमेशा सम्भव नहीं। सकारात्मक सोच रखें और अपने प्रयास, अपेक्षा और उपलब्धियों के बीच के सामंजस्य की समझ बढायें। सवेरा रोज होता है लेकिन सूरज हमेशा दिखाई दे ये ज़रूरी नहीं। सवेरे के साथ मिली रौशनी को पहचानें। अँधेरा कितना भी घना हो, रौशनी पर हावी नहीं हो सकता। अपने मन के प्रकाश को भी इसी प्रकार जलाये रखें।

आँसू का समन्दर

आँसू के कोई सैलाब नहीं होते
आँसुओं का समन्दर अलग है
इनका नमकीन स्वाद ज़रूर है
पर सिर्फ स्वाद से क्या होता है
समंदर का पानी तो अलग है
आँसू का पर हर क़तरा जुदा है
आँसू में जाने कितने ज़ज्बात हैं
समन्दर में कब कोई ज़ज्बात है
आँसू तो सिर्फ़ अपने खुद के हैं
समन्दर का पानी उधार का है

बड़े इत्मीनान से ये बोलते हैं झूठ कितने

बेमौसम बरसात / Offseason Cloudburst

फिर भी जाने क्यों अब ज़िक्र से भी डर लगता है
जब से कहर बरपा था बेमौसम बरसात का यहाँ
अब तो बरसात क्या बादलों से भी डर लगता है
Ambitions are still the same there is no change
Yet mentioning them is an scary act for me now
Ever since the cloudburst of the off-season here
Leave aside rains I'm scared of even clouds now

‘Politics of Fame and Blame’ and Collective Failure in Handling Uttarakhand Disaster

The natural disaster that followed the cloud burst has caused unprecedented havoc in the mountain state of Uttarakhand in India has been the in center focus of news in the country and round the world. The holy places of Hindus, Sikhs and mystics and trekkers have been devastated, with never before natural disaster and deaths of humans and fauna.

The handling and management of the disaster has been dismal and shameful. Thanks to the India’s defense forces and the paramilitary organizations that at least the 110,00 pilgrims who were stranded in the freezing cold and rains without food, water or shelter have been rescued and treated with timely help and supplies.

The gravity of the problem has been worsened with the further torrential rains and bad weather that made the rescue work near impossible. In spite of all odd the pilgrims have been evacuated and the country is mourning about the deaths of at least 11000 people declared dead or missing (albeit the official figures are only about 3000 so far, that no one believes).

The failure of rehabilitation and rescue work for the local people and places was nearly forgotten for some time that caused undue hardships and further losses o the local people. The passing of the blame game is being played among the politicians, the federal and state governments, the interest groups, the civil society and so on. Each one has been trying to score the ‘brownie points’ over the dead bodies of the people and livestock.

In true sense, it has been a classic case of collective failure of handling the disaster of such magnitude. I don’t think even for a moment that one single agency or person can be called responsible for this poor handling and management. In spite of all attempts of political party in power and the opposition leaders and their followers, to malign the image of the other, the truth is they all have focused on their ‘politics of fame and blame’; and have indulged in mud-slinging on each other.
The politicians proved that they are most unreliable and irresponsible and avoidable people in such circumstances. There are ample occasions for politicking and partisan politics; and not over the graves of people they must understand or must be told in no unequivocal terms.

The civil administration must take some leaves out of the defense forces, both in terms of their commitments and efforts to handle the natural disasters of such magnitude. While the best of the engineers of the civil administration failed to make a single bridge (or repair the damaged ones)the unskilled operational staffs of the army and paramilitary made make-shift bridges and temporary structures in no time, with the help of the local populations. The Civil administration failed in all its function in the disaster management, though there were many unsung heroes among them who put their heart and soul in it.

I do hope that all states and central governments and the local bodies etc. (and the people) will have a lot to learn from this disaster in terms of managing and preparedness, as well as the duty towards the nation and fellow nationals.
