If Politics is Good, Politicians too Have to be Good ~ Udaya Pant

Politics even in its narrowest sense deals with the statecraft; and it pursues the path of improving the political systems and individual ambitions for the betterment of the society and people. Nonetheless, in modern parlance politics is generally viewed more as conman-ship than the statesman-ship, for whatever reasons.

It is untenable to say that politicians have played the spoilsport in politics. In the democratic countries people reign supreme and they decide who should represent them. It’s possible to be fooled by populist gimmicks once not always. After all they get the chance to make use of their franchise intermittently. No one has stopped them from becoming responsible electorate to vote for the best possible interests of themselves. The frenzies and war-like dramas in elections everywhere is not possible without the support of people joining the party hosted by politicians during elections.

As responsible citizens we have failed to be responsible electorate and voters and have taken the recourse to politician-bashing to escape from the blame we all need to share and be ashamed of. I for one wouldn't blame politicians more than the voters behave as irresponsible citizen and owners of the sovereignty!

Without politics, the World polity and political systems are unimaginable. Gone are the days when monarchs, oligarchs or the authoritarian were all powerful! The majority in whatever form is a prerequisite of running the state of affairs if the state by politicians. As citizen we provide them the support and majority all the time.

As the main stakeholder in pre and post elections scenario, people have to make sure that the politicians are good or share and own up the blame on to themselves for not finding and electing good politicians.
