Republic Day and and the sentiments associated with the day are always special for all Indians (even others!). The 63rd Republic day was also special and the Parade was a feast to watch and witness. The military might on the display showed the deterrence ; and the cultural bouquet was splendid as ever.
The very charming chief guest (Prime Minister of Thailand)was the added attraction; that also raised questions in the minds of the Indians about the youth taking over the leadership from the politicians in their eighties!
In spite of all odds, India has been able to save the democracy and achieve economic progress. It was also heartening to hear (albeit at the electoral campaigns) from the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr. Badal, that it's time about to consider human development and social inclusion; on the same lines of infrastructure and economic development.
The human development and development of ethics in a society, that knows how to adjust with times and resources available, is very important. Only exemplary punishments against corruption and graft will work; and yes, without any exemptions and short-cuts.The rule of law is a precondition for the democracy and republics; and no one should fool the law! Amen!

India has maintained democracy.... I dont think we were democratic at all, writing few constitutional rights and then not giving them is not democracy. we talk about youth 70% of that youth don't even know how many parts constitution is divided into and what was the law before India got its own constitution.
Jiya..may be; but it's also true that among the developing countries (that too as vast as India)keeping the democracy alive itself is a huge issue. On many counts India is a truly democratic. But, yes, I agree that the outreach of the democracy is to be visible and enhanced. Out of the available options, democracy stands out tall everywhere, including in India.
