Haiku

ज़िन्दगी पर
मैं जो हँसने लगा
ज़िन्दगी मुझ पर हँस दी
On life
I started laughing
Life laughed at me!

तुम्हारा आना
ज्यों वसंत महका
मन बहका
Your arrival
Like fragrant spring
Heart wandering

प्यार मँझधार है
भवसागर है
जीवन-सार भी
Love is midstream
It's vast ocean
Essence of life too!

गिरोगे और क्या
तुम गिर चुके हो जब
अपनी निगाह में
What's left
When you have fallen
In your own eyes!

मत दो मुझे
कोई ख़ुदा का वास्ता
परेशान हूँ मैं
Don't give me
Any God's reference
I am stressed!

चार दिन ज़िन्दगी
चन्द ज़िन्दगी के सवाल
सवालों में ज़िन्दगी
Few days’ life
Some questions of life
Life in questions!

हमने भी सुना
तुम्हें ये कहते हुए
तुम महान हो
I did hear
You were claiming
You are great!

हिसाब लेना था मुझे
तुम हिसाब क्या दे पाओगे
पास ज़बाब तक नहीं
I need explanation
What explanation can you give
With not even an answer!

कुछ वे बौखलाये
कुछ हम उत्तेजना में थे
हिसाब बराबर
He yelled
I was also excited
It evened out!

न मालूम कैसे
मुझे रास्तों की नहीं तलाश
रास्ते मिल जाते हैं
Don't know how
I don't look for ways
They are found!

मुझे नहीं मालूम
तुम्हारा अन्तरंग अभिप्राय क्या
मैं अनभिज्ञ ठीक हूँ
I don't know
Your inside intention
Unaware I'm fine!

ज़िन्दगी समझ ले
मैं तेरे आगोश में नहीं
तू आगोश में है !
Thou shall know life
I am not in your arms
You are in arms!

चेहरा आईना नहीं
फितरत हकीकत है तेरी
गलत क्या कहा!
Face isn't mirror
Attitude is your reality
Nothing wrong said!

अपनी नाकामियां छुपाते
लोग देते हैं माहौल और
ख़ुदा का वास्ता!
Hiding their failures
People swear by circumstances
And the God!

बस वही दो लफ्ज़
हम रोज़ दोहराते ही गए
हासिल कुछ न हुआ
Same two words
We kept repeating daily
Nothing we found!

और क्या कह दूँ
ये मन तो मानता नहीं
फिर भी किया एतबार!
What more do I say
The mind doesn't agree to
Yet I trusted you!

इच्छाओं के साथ साथ
उम्र और लालच दोनों बढ़े
एक दिन कुछ नहीं
Along with desires
Greed and age both grew
Nothing in the end!

कैसे कहता मैं कुछ
उनके अविरल वक्तव्य में
अवसर कहाँ था
How could I speak
For there was no scope
During his monologue!

कुछ सुकून है
थोड़ी दवा थोड़ा नशा
है तेरी याद!
Bit of comforting
some medicine and intoxication
Is your remembrance!

ठोकर ही थी
लड़खड़ा ज़रुर गया था
पर गिरा नहीं हूँ!
Just a percussion
And did trip over
But not fallen for sure!

तुम्हारे गुनाह छुपाते
ये पता नहीं चला हमको
कहलाने लगे हम गुनहगार
Hiding your crimes
I couldn't just get to know
I was called delinquent!

जब आयेगी क़यामत
हम खुद देंगे सब हिसाब
तुम भी देख लेना!
On the doomsday
I shall provide the liquidation
You can witness too!

बहुत चाहत थी
दिल लगाने की हमको भी
आशनाई काम न आई
Great desire was there
Falling in love of someone
Concubinage deserted!

सवाल कुछ ऐसे
ज़बाब से और उलझते हैं
ख़ुद से पूछना भी नामुमकिन
Some questions
Get complex with answers
Impossible to ask self!

नहीं मालूम
रज़ा क्या है तेरी
जो भी हो
Don't know
What's your dismission
Be what it may!

ये ज़िन्दगी
अपनी कहाँ थी
न ही रहेगी
The life
Wasn't mine
Nor shall be

बहुत कुछ था
पाया बिरासत में
छोड़ा कुछ नहीं
Found a lot
In the inheritance
Left nothing

हर नेता का
चेहरा एक मुखौटा
बेपेंदी का लोटा
Every politician
Wearing masks
A rolling utensil

प्रश्नोत्तर में उन्मुक्त
निष्छल हँसी
मानो मुझ पर हँसी
Answering with
Unclouded innocent smile
As if laughs at me!

ख़्वाब था
क्या अफ़सोस है
जो टूट गया
Just a dream
Why feel sorry
When broken!

कैसे महकेंगे
गुलोँ से ख़ुशबू
हो गई चोरी
Whither fragrance
Perfume of flowers
Is stolen!

भेड़िये ज्यों
खाल में भेड़ की
मुखौटों में लोग
Like wolf
In skin of sheep
Guys in masks!
हिचकिचा कर सही
जो न कहा
कह तो दिया
Albeit hesitantly
The unsaid
At least said now!

मेरा किया
सुना मैंने तुमसे
तुम्हारा किया
My efforts
I heard from you
As your efforts!
